Ministry: Congregational Care

Arrived at AUMC: June, 2008

Favorite Scripture Verse: “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38

Family Members: My wife, Jane; my daughters, Marie, Rebecca, and Jamie Ruth; and my granddaughters, Hannah and Haley.

Hobbies and Interests: Reading, classical music and opera.

What do most people not know about you? Playing the piano in public has been something that I always avoided until becoming a pastor. This changed when I was forced to accompany congregational singing occasionally when the pianist failed to show up on Sunday mornings.

Who has inspired you the most in your life and why? Rev. J. R. Crowe.  I first met this retired United Methodist pastor when I was a lay speaker.  During the time I was considering entering the ministry I spoke on Sunday morning at the church he was attending. Following that sermon he told me that God had his hand on my life.  This was the affirmation that I needed to respond to the call of God on my life.

Dream Vacation: To visit the Holy Land.

Words to Live By: “Jehoveh-jireh, The Lord will provide.”
